Provision of E&M System for Sha Tau Kok Temporary Sewage Treatment Plant

JEC Hong Kong secured the contract to design and install E&M systems for the Temporary Sewage Treatment Plant at Sha Tau Kok. This is part of the works for Expansion of Sha Tau Kok Sewage Treatment Works Phase 1.

To tackle the challenges on short construction period and small site footprint, the project team adopts Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology in the project. It is renowned for its compactness and high treatment efficiency.

Besides, Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) technology is used during the construction of steel processing tanks in the plant. Integrated modules of steel tank are manufactured in the factory before transporting to site for installation, substantially reducing the adverse impacts of weather conditions, labour resources and site constraints, in turn significantly improves construction efficiency and site safety.

The project has commenced in March this year and is expected to be completed in May 2020. The plant will have a treatment capacity of 2,500 m3/day and become the largest MBBR plant in Hong Kong upon its completion.
